McGowan Family- Alexis's Cancer Fight Has Begun

Tax deductible
Paul and Jeanne McGowan are reaching out to their community to rally love, prayers and financial support to help their 34-year-old daughter Alexis Flood on an unthinkable and difficult journey. Alexis began the fight of her life on December 19, 2022. She was diagnosed with a very aggressive Stage 2B Hodgkin’s Lymphoma with an inoperable tumor mass (over 10 cm in size or about the size of an orange) in her chest cavity next to her heart and lung. Additionally, four other tumors were located in her neck, underarm, and breast areas. Grueling chemotherapy began Christmas Eve 2022. Alexis is in an uphill battle as she has many months of chemotherapy, testing, and further treatments ahead. The Winter Springs, FL born and raised native is already extremely weak due to the cancer.

Alexis is bravely fighting for her and her family. Her dad Paul McGowan played football at FSU and was an All-American and winner of the 1987 Butkus Award for best college linebacker. Alexis is bringing that same defensive spirit and Noles’ pride to fight for her life for the sake of her and her family. Paul is also a much-loved Firefighter at the Seminole County Fire Department and has served the Seminole County community for nearly 25 years … so the firefighting community also considers this fight in their fire family for Paul and Jeanne.

Due to her medical situation, doctors have stated that Alexis is unable to work, which has made it impossible already for her to make ends meet. She was currently in welding school. Besides a devastating emotional toll, this has placed a tremendous financial strain on her and her family. Alexis is a proud mother and has a beautiful four-year-old daughter, Charlotte Leigh, who is the light of her life. Alexis is a ‘07 graduate of Winter Springs High School who grew up in Seminole County, Florida and has always loved volleyball, fitness, art, painting, and music.

The family is devastated and is rallying together to try to gather as much support for Alexis during this long battle. Please show your love and support for this amazing family to help Alexis.
