Fontana High School's Public Service Pathway lost an amazing Fire Technology and EMT Instructor, Michael J. McGinnis, in August 2021. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, mentor, and friend. He made a lasting impression on our campus and students and we are determined to carry his legacy for generations through the McGinnis Scholarship Foundation.
Fontana High School's Public Service Pathway consists of Fire Technology, EMR/EMS, and Law Enforcement. Our career pathways are giving students valuable skills and experiences that will provide them future opportunities in Public Service careers and post-secondary programs. This scholarship was created by his lovely wife Karina and their three daughters Liliana, McKenzie, and Brooklyn in honor of Michael. The goal of the scholarship is to award a few Senior Public Service Cadets who exemplify the traits and passion that Michael had. Our goal is to recognize and award more students every year with the support of yearly contributions and fundraisers.
This school year, our first fundraiser is a Memorial 9/11 Stair Climb to pay tribute to the victims and honor the survivors of the September 11, 2001 tragedy. Our cadets will climb 2,200 steps in gear to raise money for the scholarship foundation.
