An update; Patrick and Maryrose are overwhelmed by the support and tremendous generosity they have received. The surgery took about 5 hours on Friday, and the neurosurgeon and ENT surgeon feel pretty confident that the main leak has been fixed. Mare will stay at the Mayo Clinic for a minimum of 5 more days with the lumbar drain diverting fluid away from the recently patched area to allow it to heal. After that, she will need to work on getting her strength back…10 days in bed with tremendous headaches can really wipe you out! We know she is a trooper and will take one day at a time, strengthened by all the love of family and friends.
{I’m Katie and most of you know my cousins, Patrick and Maryrose. If it weren’t for bad luck…
Just when you think Pat losing a toe is pretty bad, here comes Mare with a few holes somewhere in her skull. She is leaking cranial spinal fluid at an alarming rate and after a ridiculous runaround, is luckily under the care of the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. Mare is out of work and Patrick is doing all he can to be with her as much as he can, while also missing work. Mayo Clinic is a 200 mile round trip for him and Anne, so the hidden stress is taking its toll on this family! Hopefully, they’ll have the plan set soon for a potentially 8 hour, delicate surgery. Recovery time is always dependent on how things go. They’ll need our help for so many things.
Please, if you can, help these amazing people out, any way you are able to.}
