Pam McGarry lost her loving husband January 1, 2019 unexpectedly. We have started this Go Fund Me account to help her get through the next several months.
Vern McGarry was a Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and Son. He served his community as a Police Officer for the City of San Clemente for many years, and was a Varsity High Jump Coach at Dana Hills High School. Vern loved to be out doors. He love to travel and hike, Surf (in his early years) and Drive his Camaro on sunny days. Most of all, his passion was Skydiving! He had over 1500 logged jumps and was Part of multiple world records. Vern enjoyed formation jumps where as many as 50 (sometimes more) divers would all jump at the same time and create spectacular formations in the sky’s above exotic places like Belize and Puerto Rico. However on any given weekend you could find him out at Parris or Elsinore making jumps with his “Jump Family”. When he was not Jumping, or coaching, he was home with his beautiful wife Pam. They had many friends that they would share meals with regularly. They would travel together and explore the world with each other. They shared a love and passion for life together like most will never experience. Regularly Vern and Pam’s Grandchildren would come over for dinner or to stay for the weekend. The kids loved grandpa bear so much, and he loved them. They are lucky to have had him as a role model and guide for the time that they did.
On Jan, 1st 2019, after completing a skydive jump, Vern started to feel ill, the ambulance was called and he was transported to the hospital. Unfortunately Vern Suffered a heart attack and passed away shortly after arriving at the emergency room. The family is devastated by this unexpected loss and appreciates the love and support of those around them.
Vern is survived by his Wife Pam, Daughter Kristen (Husband Shawn), Step Son Jake (Wife Genevieve), Grandchildren Trinity, Kiera and Brandon, Sisters Della (Husband Greg) and Tanya.
He will be forever missed, but the lessons he taught and the guidance he gave will live on in those who received it.
