McGahey Medical Fund- Hope and Healing Ahead

Hi, I’m Sierra. Lindsey and I have been best friends since we were teenagers—through thick and thin, we’ve had each other’s backs. I’ve started this fundraiser because I want to help support her and her family as they face this challenging time with Tyler.

The McGahey family is facing a heart-wrenching medical emergency, and they need our support. Tyler McGahey has been hospitalized after experiencing a series of severe seizures, including a prolonged grand mal seizure that required urgent intervention. Due to complications and the need for specialized care, Tyler was airlifted to Detroit. Tyler’s kidneys aren’t doing well due to an infection, which doctors believe has been caused by vomit in his lungs. He’s been put on antibiotics.

The doctors have inserted a breathing tube and something to remove bile and sludge—likely from the infection. They also put him on a blood thinner to combat a clot in his lungs, which they believe is pulmonary related.

Currently doctors are unable to perform a CT scan or MRI on his chest due to the dye needed being too harsh on his kidneys.

While he has shown small signs of progress, including moments of responsiveness, Tyler remains heavily sedated to manage his condition and prevent further complications. The journey to recovery is still unclear, as the medical team continues to investigate the underlying cause of his seizures.

This situation has placed an immense emotional and financial strain on the McGahey family. Tyler’s siblings and parents are doing everything they can to be by his side, but with travel, medical expenses, and missed work, the costs are quickly adding up.
