Gurtaj Singh Rattan was more than a talented athlete — he was a role model whose dedication, integrity, and leadership made him someone others looked up to. Gurtaj was awarded Delview Secondary’s 2023 Student Athlete Award for excelling in academics and leading the basketball program throughout high school. Gurtaj gave everything he had to the sport of basketball and was a true representation of a leader. His excellence as both a student and an athlete made him unforgettable, but it was his kindness and integrity that left the deepest impact.

To honour his life, his passion, and the impact he made on everyone around him, we are proud to host the Gurtaj Rattan Memorial Basketball Tournament. This tournament is more than a competition; it is a celebration of who he was and a way for our community to come together in his memory.

We have gotten a lot of inquiries and support regarding how to help with the tournament. You can help sponsor the tournament through financial contributions which will support event and set-up costs, help cover gear and refreshment costs, and fund prizes and event operations. Most importantly, after all tournament expenses are covered, every remaining dollar will be donated directly to BC Search and Rescue. Your generosity not only strengthens our event, but also supports the incredible Search and Rescue volunteers who work year-round to keep our communities safe.
