McFlurrys life saving colic surgery

Donation protected
McFlurry is ten year old Dylan’s para dressage pony and he has been a shining light in the dark for him whilst he’s battled cancer head on at the same time as chasing his para dressage dreams!

On Monday morning I arrived at the yard to find McFlurry, in agony with fluid pouring from his nostrils thrashing around. At that moment I thought we where going to loose him. We immediately called the vet and after trying to help him at our yard and getting him a little more comfortable it was decided he needed to be rushed to intensive care with the most likely case on arrival of colic surgery.

When we arrived the intensive care team decided that they wanted to see if they could get him happy and his gut working again medically before taking him to surgery, he was a bit of a mystery case as only a very small part of his small intestine seemed to be looped, not twisted indicating it had stopped working and now he was having his stomach drained he was much more comfortable but still dull and not his true self.

They worked incredibly hard to help him draining his stomach every two hours and eventually being able to stretch that out to 6 hours with the fluid decreasing most times at one point to 1l an hour however at 9pm on Tuesday his stomach filled with 13l of fluid and they make the decision to take him to surgery as this clearly wasn’t working.

It was awful waiting for the call as we had been told that it could have possibly been grass sickness and there is no cure for that so the internal terror ate us up for hours.

Thankfully we got the call at 2am to say he was out and on his feed and they found an impaction in his small intestine which was the best scenario out of all of them that we could of been facing with surgery! Dylan let out a big YES and punched the air!

So that’s where we are now and we have been asked by many if they can help to cover McFlurrys vets bills. I’m incredibly lucky to have a wonderful friend who is going to lend me some money so I don’t have to go down the route of borrowing from the bank and it costing more in interest but any help towards the cost of saving this wonderful pony would be greatly received.

I’m so very aware that so many people came together to make Dylan’s dreams a reality when fundraising to purchase Flurry and I never wanted to be in the position to be asking for more help however we are lucky to be surrounded by people who want to help and are offering it and I can’t tell you how much that means.

I know know it’s a difficult time of the year so any help however small would be just wonderful and help to take the burden off a little, we really haven’t been dealt the best cards in life but I’m so hoping we have saved our wonderful boy and he’s on the road to recovery ❤️

We where quoted upto 10k for colic surgery alone so that is what I have set the fundraiser for however before even going under the knife we have accumulated thousands in bills so far and are well aware that the cost of care associated with this could rack up to 20k.

If you have gotten this far I really appreciate it thankyou so much for reading. I am updating our social media with Flurry’s progress but will also make sure to update here, thankyou again I can’t tell you how much it means.
