On August 18, I underwent gastric sleeve surgery to finally address years of being morbidly obese and improve my overall health. I’m pleased to say that so far, the recovery is going well and I’m progressing nicely.
Now, the tricky part: Because it’s a medical leave, I have to apply for short term disability through the state. But because I have to wait until 9 days post-surgery — and because it’s the government, and nothing moves quickly — it’s likely to be close to a month before I see any payout of those benefits. Which means that for a month, I essentially have no income.
All donations will go toward bills, rent, gas, and the limited amount of groceries I’m allowed to consume on my post-surgery diet. I hate to ask for help, but I see no other way at this point. Thank you for listening and considering, and I appreciate if people would reserve any judgment.
