MCDD Break in Security and Camera System Needed

Tax deductible
On Thursday, December 3rd, a burglar broke into the Macoupin Center for the Developmentally Disabled, causing extensive damage to the building and stole electronics, food, and personal items belonging to the students.

Not only is the financial impact devastating for an organization that operates on a shoestring budget, but the safety, security, and peace-of-mind that it's a safe place for students has been shattered.

Thanks to an outpouring of support from the community, the electronics, food, and personal items belonging to the students have already been replaced. The Carlinville community has been wonderful to us, and we can't thank you enough.

The Carlinville Police Department (all heroes in our book!) has begun investigating and are following up on all leads. Upon consultation with their detectives and and our board, it's been determined that we need 4 things to protect ourselves moving forward:

1. A comprehensive security system to monitor the windows, doors, and motion in the building at night.
2. A camera system to secure the indoor and outdoor spaces.
3. A buzzer system for a front door to prevent unauthorized visitors from accessing the building during daytime hours.
4. Repairs to our fence (someone cut a giant hole in it out back, more than can simply be wired back together)

We are working with Central Illinois Security to install a state-of-the-art security system, and are in the process of working with volunteers to install a camera system immediately. We have not yet received quotes for the door buzzer or fence repair, but are looking for local companies that can do this sort of work. (If you are or know someone with this skillset, please get in touch!)

On the off chance that we exceed our fundraising goal, any excess funds will be used to support our year round educational and summer programs.

Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit Macoupin Center for the Developmentally Disabled, and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to our community.

Macoupin Center for the Developmentally Disabled's mission: To meet the needs of adults with disabilities throughout Macoupin and surrounding counties in a learning atmosphere that caters to the students' diverse levels of abilities.
