There are moments in life that change everything. For the Paulk family, that moment came in January when their sweet four year old son, McCoy, was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, an aggressive brain tumor located in the fourth ventricle of his brain. In an instant, life became filled with surgeries, chemotherapy, stem cell transplants, hospital stays, and countless days that no child or family should ever have to face.
McCoy was rushed to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, where he underwent a seven hour brain surgery that successfully removed the tumor. Since that day, he has endured 42 rounds of chemotherapy, including three tandem stem cell transplants, more than 120 days in the hospital, multiple infections, blood transfusions, and countless complications that come with such an intense treatment plan. Yet if you know McCoy, you know his smile has never faded. His joy, courage, and resilience continue to inspire everyone who meets him.
As if this journey was not difficult enough, the Paulk family experienced both heartbreak and hope within the span of a single week. While McCoy was recovering from brain surgery and beginning the fight of his life, his mom, Maebry, welcomed his baby brother, Riggs, into the world. One week held some of their greatest fears alongside one of God’s greatest blessings. It is a beautiful reminder that even in life’s darkest moments, hope can still shine through.
McCoy is also a twin. His brother, Cutler, is not only his twin but his very best friend. They share an incredible bond, and Cutler has faithfully stood beside McCoy through every hospital stay, every treatment, and every difficult day. More than anything, they simply want to be two little boys making memories together. This year, one of McCoy’s biggest dreams is becoming a reality as he prepares to start Pre K alongside Cutler. As they begin this exciting new chapter, the Paulk family is praying and believing that McCoy’s post treatment scans and lumbar puncture at the end of August will show no evidence of disease.
Their parents, Clint and Maebry, have poured every ounce of their strength into caring for their three boys while carrying the emotional, physical, and financial weight of pediatric cancer. Through every challenge, their faith has remained unwavering. They continue to trust that God is writing a story far greater than they can see.
Today, we have the opportunity to stand beside them.
Every donation will help ease the burden of medical expenses, travel, lodging, lost income, and the many unexpected costs that come with long term treatment. Your generosity gives Clint and Maebry the freedom to focus on what matters most: loving McCoy, Cutler, and Riggs and walking this journey together as a family.
If you are unable to give financially, we ask you to pray. Pray for complete healing. Pray for clear scans at the end of August. Pray for strength on the difficult days and peace that only God can provide. Please also share McCoy’s story so others can join in supporting this incredible family.
McCoy has already impacted more lives than he will ever know. His courage has strengthened faith, united an entire community, and reminded us all what true perseverance looks like. Thank you for standing with the Paulk family. Thank you for believing in hope. Thank you for helping McCoy continue his fight.
Together, we are McCoy Strong.
