McCormack National Debate Competition!
Donation protected
The John W McCormack School is sending seven students from grades 7 & 8 to the National Speech and Debate Tournament, the largest academic competition in the United States. Our students have shown both dedication and success, competing in debate all year long. The 2019 National Speech and Debate Tournament will be held in Dallas, Texas, in June.
All year, students have been practicing nearly every day after school, and nearly every tournament, our students have won both team and individual awards. In April, two of our students were quarter finalists in the National Urban Debate League Tournament in Washington, D.C. Congratulations to Olivia, who was the eighth place speaker in the nation!!
This trip is an enrichment opportunity for participants to both observe and experience debate on a national level. Students will meet new people, observe middle school tournaments, support out district team and equally as important – have fun! It is our hope the experience will inspire them to continue to develop their debate skills and compete at a championship level in high school.
Your donation will help pay for airfare, hotel, food, and tournament registration fees.
