McConnell’s Boxing Academy Scholarship Program
McConnell’s Boxing Academy is owned and operated by two-time professional boxing world champion and Society Nine Brand Ambassador, Molly McConnell. MBA prides itself on not only being the best place in Portland, Oregon to learn the sweet science of boxing, but also as a welcoming, inclusive, safe place for all people. Our fitness program is non-contact (no sparring) and open to any experience or fitness level, but our community is just as important to us as our curriculum is. Boxing is a great way to relieve stress, build confidence and get stronger both physically and mentally. It can help people find their inner strength and teaches us all the value and importance of our own personal power.
MBA has opened a scholarship fund aimed toward people who would benefit from these aspects of our program as well as the support of the MBA community, but might not be able to afford to come here. We are starting with three spots per quarter that will be discounted 50% per month. Each scholarship will provide a free pair of hand wraps and boxing gloves, as well as one half hour private session with Molly. The hand wraps have been donated by our friends at Bridge City Fight Shop and the gloves are donated by Society Nine.
We are reaching out to our larger community to help us fund this important program for the 2017 calendar year. We believe that the empowerment of the individual strengthens the empowerment of the community and we are asking for your help. Financial barriers should not get in the way of physical, mental and emotional growth and stability. If you would like to donate to this program, you can do so through our gofundme page.
