Hello, this is KC Hughes, Larry & Denise McConnell's daughter. As many of you know, my family has been dealing with the progression of my dad's cardiac amyloid since his diagnosis in 2013. Since then, we have received truly unbelievable support from friends and family. Our family has been blessed with so much love throughout the years as my dad has battled set backs from his major stroke in 2018, followed by another brain bleed later that year. The continued progression of his heart condition along with his strokes prevented him from receiving a heart transplant. The reason I am looking to raise funds is to help my mom in this final chapter. Within the last month, my dad has had to visit the emergency room and ICU multiple times. With this and the continued decline of his physical function, our family had to make the painful decision to put him on hospice care. Due to his current state, we have had to get 24 hour care to help assist my mom with medications, transferring dad, as well as many of the other parts of care that became too much for her to handle on her own. The amount of work she has done to care for dad is nothing short of a miracle of its own right. The combination of hospice care, 24 hour care giving, and the final rounds of hospital visits have left some large payments for my mom to try and cover. While it is hard to put into words how thankful our family is for the unending support throughout the past few years, I want to try and help give my mom some peace in this final stage. In spite of all the hardships that our family has seen, the support and love by so many people along with endless prayers has truly been the most beautiful part.
