McComb Railroad Depot Museum

The McComb train station was built in 1901 by the Illinois Central Railroad serving Amtrak’s New Orleans to Chicago passenger trains and was instrumental in the establishment and growth of McComb.

After being restored, the depot was converted in 2001 into the McComb Railroad Museum with nearly 1,800 unique railroad artifacts and several pieces of railroad equipment, attracting visitors from all over the country. The McComb Railroad Museum was considered to be the finest south of Illinois. In addition, the depot continued to serve Amtrak passengers.

On May 30th, 2021, the historic depot suffered a catastrophic fire that damaged or destroyed much of the building and McComb Railroad Depot Museum.

Fearing a total loss, McComb residents were relieved that after a review by an architecture firm, it was determined that part of the burned structure could be saved.

Starting in early 2022, work is underway to repair the City’s old historic train depot. While money has been allocated to restoring the building owned by the city of McComb, the non-profit museum would have to raise money to rebuild and modernize the well-known landmark.

We need your help to restore the McComb Railroad Depot Museum. While some artifacts were destroyed in the fire, many have been preserved restored, waiting to be displayed in a restored rehabilitated depot home.

Every dollar counts, and we can assure you every penny will be spent wisely to set up our new museum. In addition, all contributors will have their names displayed on the Museum’s website.
