McCluney Family

It Takes a Village:
This August one of my closest friends, Brian McCluney, went out fishing with a buddy, Justin Walker, and they never came back. The loss that me and his friends feel is immeasurable, but it pales in comparison to the gap left in his family.

Brian was a gentle hero. He was big, strong, and kind to everyone. He lived a life of service. He was a Navy Veteran who deployed multiple times with the Marines.  He was a Corpsman (Medic) but also a highly skilled soldier who served bravely in many high risk missions, earning a Purple Heart.  Later he became a firefighter and medic where he continued to take risks to save others.

Brian married Stephanie, his high school sweetheart, who is now a sister to the me and the many other friends who loved Brian as a brother.  They have two beautiful children, Brynn and Conner.

Brian's job as a Firefighter/Medic was their primary source of income. We want to make sure that the kids, and Steph, are able live a life without the added stress of future finances.

We have said that it will be the job of a dozen  uncles and aunties to fill the shoes of such a loving father, but we will be honored to do so.  To support them fully, it will take a village, and we need help from the wider community.

Brian was like a brother to me. A handful of us will do whatever it takes to honor his memory and ensure his family is cared for, but with more help from friends and family, we can do more to ensure their financial security.  We would love help from the village who loved Brian and continue to love his family.

This account will be used for day to day funds to keep the household afloat, and depending on the size, money can be set aside for future needs that arise. Stephanie will be in charge of the funds, but I like the idea that my money could help a little today, and then could fund a specific future moment like Brynn's first homecoming dress, or Conner's football gear.

Brian was a Hero who always put others first,  so in honor of the way he lived, I ask you to do what you can to help those that were Brian's world.
