McBreen Environmental are Ireland's largest drainage and utility company who currently employ more than 140 people. As we approach the festive season, we recognise the importance of supporting some causes which are close to the heart of the company. Where the company would have previously spent and received costly gifts, this year we plan on directing the cost of these gifts in a more charitable direction. We also hope that people will get behind us in rallying and supporting two worthy causes:
LITTLE STEPS FOR KATE
Kate was born with Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus in May 2013. She has limited mobility due to spinal nerve damage. She has a shunt draining excess fluid from her brain to her abdomen & will require a shunt for life. Kate has undergone multiple surgeries due to shunt failures. She has a Global Development Delay (GDD) due to her Hydrocephalus & Arnold Chiari malformation and also requires oxygen at night time due to sleep apnea. Despite all this she is a happy little girl & we believe that she will do amazing things.

Kate attended First Step Rehabilitation in Limerick since November 2014 & had made great progress in her physical development. Without fundraising Kate would not have been given this amazing opportunity. Due to Kate’s GDD she is no longer able to benefit from the work carried out at First Step Rehabilitation at this time. We hope that in future, as Kate continues to develop mentally, that she may have the capacity to continue with her therapy. Little Steps for Kate are currently fundraising to make the necessary adaptions to Kate's home and to provide Kate with much needed sensory equipment which will help stimulate Kate’s mental development. Kate’s journey will be a long and sometimes difficult one, her needs will constantly change and evolve & Little Steps for Kate are always so thankful for any support received.
