My name is Tiana. I am a mother of 2 boys, 10 years and sixteen years.
I graduated culinary school December of 2013,in hopes of pursuing my dream of being a pastry chef.
In January 2014, I turned 37, and lost everything I've worked for to kidney disease.
I started showing symptoms November of 2013. I would go to the doctors and they would run labs and tell me to come back in 6 weeks. By the time the 6 weeks had come and gone I was in end stage renal failure.
I spent January and half of February in the hospital trying to see if my kidneys would "wake up" ending up with starting dialysis at the beginning of February.
My diagnosis is IGA nephropathy which is an autoimmune disorder that attacks the kidneys.
My nephrologist immediately started the procedures for transplant.
I am now on the transplant list in Denver, Colorado.
My transplant coordinator is Kelli Janz with Presbyterian/ St. Lukes. My donor coordinator is Kathryn O'Dea her number is [phone redacted]
I have a donor.
He is a veteran of five Afghanistan tours. He has a wife and a one year old daughter.
He is a friend of ours and decided they that they wanted to get tested to see if either of them are a match. He just happens to be an exact blood match. He has not only signed up to be my donor but has signed up to be a cross donor.
Being a cross donor means that we can coordinate and create a donation chain, which would not only save my life but others who have donors who are not matches.
The purpose of this fundraiser is to help with any expenses and anything not anticipated/covered in the transplant process.
While all medical expenses related to the donation are covered.
There are things not covered as far as time off from work, potential interstate travel, and lodging.
So please please please get this out there and
to help enter me to possibly win 10k to help my hero live comfortably and worry free while he recovers from yet again being a hero
