Roderick’s Journey to Recovery

Hello, my name is Roderick Prioleau, owner and operator of RnR Services Plumbing here in Indianapolis. For years, I’ve been a one-man show—answering the calls, fixing the pipes, and making sure the water keeps flowing for families and businesses across this city.
I’m not the kind of man who asks for help easily. I was raised to work hard, keep my word, and handle my responsibilities. But life has a way of humbling all of us, and right now, I’m in a place where I have to lean on the same community I’ve served for so long.

In November 2022, the night before Thanksgiving, I suffered a major stroke that took most of the strength from the right side of my body. Since then, I’ve fought every day to keep going—not just for myself, but for my family. I was the primary provider for my wife, who is retired, and my adult daughter, who lives with disabilities.

With the stroke, I am now reduced to taking small service calls like repairing faucets and minor sink jobs that don't rely upon my right side to do it. I still take service calls when I can if I am able to bring my teenage grandson with me to do the physical work my body no longer allows. I don’t do this because it’s easy—I do it because it’s necessary.
I am now on a fixed income with Social Security but still struggle with this smaller amount to be financially stable.
But now I’m facing another major obstacle: I need a right-sided knee replacement. Years of hard plumbing work have worn my knees down to the point where walking is a struggle, but I am trying to continue to push myself, but it seems right now to be a dead end. The right knee is by far the worse. Same side as my stroke.

During the recovery period, I won’t be able to take any calls or do any small repairs that would definitely generate a bit of income. That means no money coming in for several weeks—at a time when my household still needs support for basic needs like groceries, medications, utilities, and transportation to appointments.

That’s why I’m humbly asking for help.

If you’re able to give, your support will help cover:

Household expenses during my recovery

Medical-related costs

Any tools or mobility assistance I may need to get back on my feet—literally and figuratively

This isn’t just about me. It’s about making sure I can keep showing up for the people who count on me—my family, my clients, and my community.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Whether you’re able to donate or simply share this campaign, please know I’m grateful. Your kindness means more than words can express.

With respect and gratitude,

Roderick Prioleau
