Who am I?
My name is Mary Cait Walthall, and I teach and perform improv comedy in Chicago. I also work for a nonprofit called Alternatives, Inc., coaching and training Chicago Public Schools staff and administrators in Restorative Justice Practices. I am passionate about self-expression and relationship-building through authentic and nonviolent communication; in my work in Restorative Justice, I have see that when people are able to express themselves and feel confident that others will understand, conflict can actually bring people closer together, rather than pushing them apart.

Why am I raising money?
Anybody can express themselves, and any body can be expressive. At the same time, most of us are not aware of the stories that our bodies are telling, or how to express ourselves fully in a way that reaches beyond words. In the fall, I will be going to London for three months to learn how to teach physical theater at a school called Embodied Poetics , and I intend to use these skills to facilitate self-expression not only for theater makers and performers, but for any person who would like to find authentic and playful self-expression.
