Hi, my name is Esmeralda. On Wednesday, February 23, 2023, our family’s home and personal belongings were completely burned down. Fortunately, all five family members got out, but my grandmother was injured and is currently hospitalized. Two of my rabbits could not get out and died in the fire. We currently have no home to go to and are staying at a friend’s house. We are in contact with our insurance, but we are waiting on a callback to see how they can help us.

I am currently 22 years of age and attend school studying agriculture crop science. I am the only primary wage earner and the only form of transportation in the family. I just started an internship and have to be monitoring my mother’s medication intake and medical appointments.

Material-wise, everything is gone, from our clothes to important documents. Precious memories, such as pictures and items from my deceased brother, are also gone. My mother is severely ill, with kidney failure, a failing heart, and other issues throughout her organs. All her prescribed medication was destroyed. Medical can cover some of the medication costs but not all. My grandpa is diabetic and lost his electrolarynx and all his medication. As I mentioned, my grandma is hospitalized due to some burns and is in shock. Any donation, big or small, is truly appreciated.
