Help Alex recover from a rare diagnosis

On April 29, 2023, Alex and Rachel headed to Curacao, to join his family, where they were supposed to enjoy the sun, sea, surf and time together!

Unfortunately, what was meant to be a beautiful vacation time, quickly turned into a nightmare...

After a surf session, Alex started to feel ill, resulting in forceful vomiting and had to be rushed to the hospital. His esophagus ruptured due to a rare condition called Boerhaave Syndrome. He was then rushed into surgery for a thoracotomy. A couple of days after, he had to undergo another surgery to clean out his chest cavity.

Alex and his family have been told, that he will likely have to stay at the hospital there for at least 2 to 3 extra weeks, before being able to fly back to Canada and start his recovery journey.

The future is still quite uncertain at the moment and this tragic event has led to an immense amount of unforeseen expenses.

For those who know Alex and his family, they are kindhearted, loving people who are always there for others. They show great generosity and a lot of humility, it is very difficult for them to accept that support, as they are discreet people who would never dare to ask for help or burden others with their problems.

This fundraiser is intended to give Alex, Rachel and the family, a chance to breathe and allow them to focus on what's to come without worrying too much about the financial aspects. Let's help them get through this, all together!
