Hi! My name is Eunbin Cho, a second year college student, and I'm in need of financial help. In this difficult time, I'm sure everyone's situations and plans have changed or may have turned a complete 180 degrees. I'm in the same situation myself.
I'm an international student in America (born in South Korea but grew up in the Philippines), and as an international student, I am forced to depend on my mother while I study in the United States, because it's illegal to work off-campus. As for the on-campus jobs that are available, I've applied for different positions in different departments since my arrival, but even if I passed their applications or tests, I was not hired. The only way I could lessen the financial burden on my mother in my first year (pre-COVID) was to minimize my use of money for personal wants and needs. Because it is my dream to study here, I saw it as my responsibility to make my dream come true.
However, due to the pandemic regulations, my mother's work was restricted, making it even harder for her to send money for my tuition fee and living cost. I'm not an only child; I have a younger sister, so providing for the three of us is getting more difficult by each day.
I am doing my best to maintain my 4.0 GPA and get my Associate’s Degrees in Physics and Math by next spring semester. I hope you can consider helping not just me, but also my mother, by donating any amount. Assisting her with my finances is the greatest way I can be of help to her right now.
As recommended to present my awards and achievements by the GoFundMe website, here are some that I'm proud of:
- Gerry Roxas Leadership Award ("The award is given to outstanding high school graduates recognized for exemplifying the core values of integrity, service and excellence." - taken from www.gerryroxasfoundation.org)
- InCEthink Bridge Building Competition 2015 (second runner-up)
- National PSYSC Science Olymiad Finals – Bracket III (Top 20 Finalist)
- Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge (Participant for three years, with highest attainment: qualifiers of Area 1 division)
-Batch Valedictorian (Junior High School)
-Top 7 among 1472 students (Senior High School - STEM strand/curriculum)
- Role Model Student (four consecutive years, chosen by student body)
Any amount helps and is appreciated greatly. Thank you!
