We are Brewerytown’s only nonprofit community garden and one of few dedicated green spaces in our rapidly-developing North Philadelphia neighborhood. Some of our garden is on protected land or is on-track to be preserved. Unfortunately, there are two privately-owned lots in the middle of our garden that are in jeopardy of being lost to development.
In partnership with Neighborhood Gardens Trust, a Philadelphia-based nonprofit leader in land preservation, we are on track to be approved for a state grant in November to save the garden. But we must raise the $25,500 grant match by October 8. Help us unlock these critical grant funds today to protect this community hub!
Brewerytown Garden provides space for 75 households to grow organic produce, operates the neighborhood’s only farm stand, and hosts no-cost community events and workshops. It’s a beloved place Philadelphia can’t afford to lose.
Thank you for your support!
Edited to add: We are humbled by the support for our fundraiser. We just set ourselves an exciting challenge -- a stretch goal of $35,000! This will not only fully cover the $25,500 grant match, but will fund a long-overdue infrastructure upgrade to make our garden safe and accessible -- repaving the very dilapidated section of sidewalk in front of our main gate on 27th Street. For more information and pictures of the sidewalk, please see our campaign update post.
