Supporting Amazing Grace

Donation protected
EDIT - I can't believe this, a few hours and the target has been met, I honestly am very humbled. I've decided to up the target as this has given me the confidence to drive on. A phenomenal corporate donation from Popcorn PR has really boosted me, as have the other very generous personal donations. Let's hope I may get to adjust this again, I feel so honoured. I'm shaving my head to try and raise money and awareness in support of Amazing Grace...... 14 year old Grace Gaskell (or Amazing Grace) as she is well known as, was diagnosed with a rare form of brain tumour in 2018.  It has been a long road for the family, and they are currently raising funds to buy Grace a potentially life saving drug.  Whilst they have met their original target, the fund raising needs to continue to ensure Grace receives all the other treatment that goes along side taking this drug.  I desperately want to do my bit to help them.....so here goes. Our family met the Gaskell family around two years ago through Air Cadets Beaconsfield 606 Squadron.  We all got to know Grace through various activities and trips, and were always astounded by her ability to put her illness aside to carry on doing what she loved - it became apparant that Grace is actually the strongest person we know.    Her story is sadly not unique but my awareness of her situation and that of others has grown by knowing them.  If by me shaving off my hair doesnt necessarily reach my target, I'd hope then at least it may do some good by raising awareness to others. By shaving my hair (all 18 inches of it!) I hope to raise as much money as possible to help Grace receive the treatment she needs, but also to highlight the situation that many people and their loved ones sadly find themselves in, and a reminder that by adopting just a tiny peice of Grace's "can do" attitude we can make a difference. There is an added benefit to this, I am hoping to donate my hair to The Princess Trust who make bespoke wigs for children who have lost their hair through illness. If I'm honest.....I'm scared to do this....at 50 years old it will be the first time I've had no hair.  But I'm am putting my fear aside, just as Grace and others will do every day.   I'm planning on doing this at the start of the school summer holidays.....so between now and then I would be so grateful if you can find the time to read this story, share it, and if you are able to do so, donate!   You can read more or follow Grace's story on Facebook - Amazing Grace, my brain cancer journey  Amazing Graces Facebook page
