Due to an accident September 19, 2013 I (Burton) am scheduled for a transtibial amputation on my right leg (below knee ampution).  I was initially involved in a motor vehicle accident which required being airlifted to the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, AB Canada.  I stayed in the Foothills for 5 1/2 weeks before being transferred to the Fernie Hospital where I remained for an additional 2 1/2 weeks.

In the accident I sustained a broken left foot (which required plates and screws), 12" cut on my left thigh which tore my quadricep from the leg, shattered right foot, crushed right heel,  double dislocated right ankle, broken (split) right knee cap, broken right hip,  5 broken ribs,  colapsed lung, cardiac tampenade (which required emergency open heart surgury and left me in an induced coma), torn retna (which has left me with a life time of inoperable severely impaired vision in my right eye) and a severe concusion.


Due to the severity of the injuries to my right foot I now require a transtibial amputation, which is an amputation that takes place approx halfway between my knee and my ankle.

When the accident happened I was not able to financially prepare for it which left us in a very bad  situation, especially for my fiance who was 6 months pregnant at the time.  This time going in we know that between the hospital and rehab I will be away for 3 months (so long as all goes relatively well).  
 
This is why I am coming to all of you.  I need to ensure that my family is taken care of this time.  Insurance does cover some of our expences, however there are a great many things that they won't cover.  

 We are looking for help from you in covering additional childcare expenses, animal care for our dogs, lost wages and finally traveling expenses to help cover Val for her extended stays in Calgary with the kids.
