Helping a sister in need

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

It has been brought to the attention of our small group at McLean Bible Church in Arlington that one of our sisters in Christ could greatly benefit from the support of the body. If you’re reading this, thank you for taking the step of faith to consider helping raise funds for one who is in need. Prayer is a powerful weapon which we can use to change the world, as are the resources and means that God has given to us - whether that be time, relationships, money, or material possessions. As you read through this request, we ask that you make a prayerful and faithful decision in response to the promptings of the Holy Spirit’s leading in your heart.

This young woman’s mother, who lives overseas, recently received a breast cancer diagnosis and is undergoing chemotherapy and surgery. She has felt a calling to return home with her family and will be flying home December 1st to help care for her. Simultaneously, this sister has felt overwhelmed and heavy laden with a broken heart resulting from this unexpected news, and with the financial stresses that are also at play - specifically traveling back home, keeping rent here until her lease can be taken over, covering some of her mom’s medical needs and other expenses as a graduate student with a limited budget.

As believers in Christ, it is our duty to fill the needs of the church, rejoice always, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances. We are called to higher standards of living, to be growing in obedience to the Word of God, and to walk in the good works that God has laid out before us to do. Each of us are at different seasons and stages of life, so as you reflect on this news, we ask that you respond in a way that is honoring Jesus. One scripture that has been brought up within our small group for this specific life circumstance is Acts 2:42-47:

“The believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together in the temple courts with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”

On behalf of this sister in Christ and her family, we are grateful for your consideration and prayers. For transparency, 100% of the funds raised will go directly to this young woman.

“May the Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)
