My husband Kevin who is 51 years old was diagnosed on December 23, 2014 with a large unoperable cancerous tumor in the center of his brain.  Kevin began having problems with fatigue, short term memmory loss and difficulty  processing things that he has been doing for years.  After many doctor visits it was finally decided to order an MRI at Mercy in Cedar Rapids, Iowa which is when we discovered that Kevin had a brain tumor.  We then met with oncologist Dr. Wood who showed us the MRI of the tumor and thought it was a grade 3 glioblastom multiforme fast growing tumor and refered us to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.  We asked our daughter Tiffany if she would be our medical advocate beings she has a medical background. Tiffany did an amazing job at researching the best medical team at Mayo and suggested we see Dr. Parney who is a Neuro Surgeon and Dr. Johnson who is a Neuro Oncologist.  We found we would have to wait 3 weeks to see Dr. Parney, but knew it would be worth the wait.  We met with Dr. Parney and Dr. Johnson on January 21st and a biopsy was scheduled for January 27th.  We had so many prayer warriors lifting Kevin up in prayer asking God to either remove the tumor or reduce it to a grade 2 which would be a slower growing tumor.  Our prayers were answered with the biopsy resulting in a grade 2 astrocytoma.  This does not get Kevin out of the woods, but it does allow us to be blessed with him alot longer than if it was a grade 3.  Dr. Parney and Dr. Johnson both told us that thier plan was to do radiation and chemo at the same time.  They could not promise to reduce the tumor, but hoped to stop it from growing and kill the cancer.  Kevin will begin treatments on February 16th, having radiation 5 days per week for 6 weeks and chemo everyday for 42 days and 6 days per month after that for a total of 6 months.  The doctors are telling us that the treatments will more than likely take a toll on Kevin's body and he won't likely be able to work for months after his treatment are finished.

Kevin has been a  self employed general contractor for over 20 years and I help him whenever possible.  We are asking that you join us in prayer asking God to restore Kevin's health so that he would be able to return to work.

We have 4 children who are all married and 8 grandchildren with number 9 on her way. I know Kevin will fight hard to get through this and be back on his feet as quick as possible so he can spend quality time with each one of them.

God has always blessed Kevin and I with the recources to help others in need,  whether it be financially or helping physically in a time of need.  We also love being volunteers for an amazing ministry Global Compassion Network   http://www.globalcn.us/domestic-disaster.html  (you can click on this link and watch a video of Kevin and I being interviewed) where we can help people clean up after a natural disaster giving them hope and sharing the love of Christ.  It is very humbling to be the one needing help, but we have to put everything in Gods hands and continue to trust He will provide our every need, whether it be through family, friends, neighbors and even complete strangers.  It brings tears to my eyes just writing this and thinking about how much God loves us and allows us to be blessed by so many people.

Many people including our family have asked us how they could help and I would have to say that prayer would be on top of the list and beings we will have no source of income until Kevin recovers, we would be truly blessed if God places it on your heart to give
financially to help lift the burden

For those of you who have never met Kevin in person, I would like to share with you what kind of man he is.  Kevin is the most kind, patient, loving, caring, compassionate, honest, generous and faithful husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend anyone could ever want or ask for.  Kevin loves God with all of his heart and loves to share Christ's love with others.  Kevin is also the hardest working man I have ever met.  For those of you who know Kevin and feel that I missed something, please feel free to leave a comment.
