Mazzy's March

[This campaign completed 4/25/2020]

Mazzy the heart warrior
was born on January 15th, 2016 to two of the most brilliant and loving parents a child could ask for. Despite being born with a rare syndrome called heterotaxy that impacted the growth and function of organs like her heart, Mazzy’s indomitable and infectious spirit was evident from the very beginning. Her dramatic entrance into the world marked the beginning of a long journey that would involve her entire family, teams of seasoned healthcare professionals, and an army of friends she would meet along the way.

After a long stay at Children’s Hospital, Mazzy’s warrior spirit left her body on March 26, 2020. Today, Mazzy’s spirit leads the march forward for parents and families of children with complex medical needs. A true heart warrior, Mazzy inspired her family to volunteer for Mended Little Hearts, an organization dedicated to supporting those caring for children with congenital heart conditions with peer support, education, and community outreach. Mazzy also touched the hearts of the heroic medical professionals and staff of Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C. where she spent a lot of time on her journey. Along the way, Mazzy met a comforting, fluffy friend  from Tucker’s Teddies, a non-profit founded by fellow heart warriors that gives comfort and teddy bears to hospitalized children and bereaved parents while also helping support the hospital teams that work tirelessly to keep kids healthy.

This GoFundMe was established by friends and colleagues of Kristin, Mazzy’s courageous mom. Our goal is to raise money in Mazzy’s memory to support three causes that can help other kids like her. Your donation to Mazzy’s March will be split between the three 501(c)(3) non-profits that provided tremendous support to Mazzy and her family as follows:
-       45% to Mended Little Hearts of Washington DC; parent organization is the Mended Hearts, Inc (EIN: 04-6073589),
-       45% to the Children’s Health Fund; parent organization of Children’s National Medical Center in Washington D.C. (EIN: 13-3468427)
-       10% to Tucker’s Teddies, Inc (EIN: 83-4610716)
