Our sweet Marvelous Ms Mazikeen von Burroughshaus “Mazey” was spooked the other night during her evening walk and got loose from her collar. She turned back towards home and was struck by a Lyft driver going approximately 45 mph. Mazey suffered a spinal injury causing the loss of movement in her hind legs and tail. She does still have sensation in her feet and tail and there is a chance that she could regain function of her hindquarters. Her MRI and CT showed that she ruptured a disc, which has caused compression on her spinal cord, but no vertebral damage, meaning surgery would not be beneficial. So, there's a chance that she will recover the use of her back legs. That's great news, but her road will be tough and she will likely need extensive physical therapy. Mazey is only 18 months old and we want to give her the best possible chance for a full recovery. Medical costs have already piled up and look to continue to do so through her remaining time in the hospital and recovery period. Any donation toward her medical costs would be appreciated.
