I am setting this up on behalf of my mom. As you all know my mama, Sophia Altenhofen has had a long few months to say the least. And for those that don’t know.. what initially started out as pneumonia quickly transpired into what appeared to be a “mass like consolidation” to stage 3 lung cancer and now officially diagnosed as stage 4 lung cancer that has metastasized to her left hip. Serveral xrays have been obtained, 2 CT’s, a PET scan, a MRI, a biopsy and a hand full of specialists have been seen to help conclude this diagnosis. With that being said the expenses have already began to increase at a rapid rate. The healthcare system is broken and most medical costs are a fortune for anyone that has compromised health.

The oncologist has started this regimen:

Tagrisso 80 mg 1x's a day as an alternative to chemo. This medication is the medication needed to shrink/prevent the spread to any other locations on her body. This medication is NEEDED just to live out a somewhat “normal” life.

Radiation to left hip for pain management. This area will never go away.

Zometa infusions through the port on chest every 4 weeks to prevent further bone destruction.

Not to mention on going testing, labs and appointments with specialists.

This isn’t an easy thing to do but, anything you can donate will help until we can figure out how to navigate this financially. The last thing I want to see is my mama stressing financially when she has such a long battle ahead of her.
