Hello family and friends. My name is Kimberly Miles. I come to you  as humble as I know how. I was living my best life as a single 45 year old with no children, living by myself in my one bedroom apartment in my hometown of Natchez, Mississippi. I was working as a PCA for a home health company. On June 6, 2023, I was at work in my client's home doing my daily duties when I fell on my right side. I couldn't believe this had happened and I also couldn't get myself off the floor. I not only scared myself, but my client as well. She wasn't able to help me get up, so the ambulance was called. I was rushed to the hospital where I found out I had broken my right arm. I broke the humerus bone below my shoulder. This was terrible because mind you I'm right handed. I had to temporarily move in with my parents due to not having use of my right hand.

I was three weeks into the healing of my right arm and just about ready for therapy. Never would I have imagined during my healing process that I would fall again at my parents home. Again, I don't know how I fell and I couldn't get up. My parents couldn't get me up due to my arm being in a brace and the excruciating pain coming from my leg, they called the ambulance. The paramedics tried to get me up, but due to how I landed on the floor, they had to call the fire department for assistance. I was taken to the emergency room of Merit Health Hospital in Natchez. The doctors x-rayed my leg and stated that I had broken my Tibula and shattered my left knee and had to be transferred to a trauma hospital for surgery.

I was then transferred two hours away to UMMC of Jackson, Ms., where I underwent emergency surgery. During surgery, they placed an xfix bar from my thigh to my ankle while I was awaiting two more surgeries to reconstruct my shattered knee. Just when I thought things were on the up, I met with the oncologist and her team. They were there to discuss the results of my test and tell me the reason for the severe breaks of my bones during each fall. CANCER... I was told Multiple Myeloma cancer and Bone Marrow cancer was the cause. Devastated and in complete shock, I underwent the other two surgeries where rods, screws, and plates were put in both sides of my left leg. That hospital, Jackson trauma center, became home for the next 26 days with no use of my right arm or my left leg and the uncertainty of cancer and the next steps.

I was unable to do therapy at the trauma center because my current insurance would not cover it at that hospital. I would have to be transferred back to Natchez for that. But I also needed chemo treatments. A social worker at the trauma center was assisting me with my insurance coverage. She told me because I didn't choose chemo coverage on my insurance plan I would have to pay out of pocket for my cancer treatments. I was left to think about what I was going to do. Since I had to be transferred back home for rehab for my arm and to learn how to get in and out of the wheelchair, I had 14 days to think about what I would do. There is no oncologist in Natchez that will treat me without chemo coverage on my insurance plan. Thank God, I found an oncologist 90 miles away in McComb, MS to treat my bone marrow cancer.

In all that I am going through, I had to move out of my apartment to permanently live with my 79 year old parents, to be my caretakers. I am in a wheelchair and have to go to McComb for chemo treatments 2-3 times a week.

I am asking for any donations to help me financially with my cancer treatments and travel expenses, now that I am unable to work. I have a long road of recovery with my leg and my arm and an even longer road of treatments for the cancer. I am trying to stay upbeat and positive while keeping my faith in God through this whole situation. Please keep me in your prayers. Thank you in advance for your prayers and any donations.
