I am posting this on behalf of my dear friend Jason. Jason has always carried the weight of his family on his shoulders as an only child. His parents immigrated to Canada to build a better life, and Jason has worked hard to honor their sacrifices. For the past two years, his mom has been bravely battling oral cancer which has now spread to her entire body. Sadly, doctors have told Jason that her fight is coming to an end, and she is being placed in hospice care. On top of this, his father’s health has also been declining.

Jason is a fourth-year Interactive Arts and Technology student at Simon Fraser University, trying to balance school with the heartbreaking reality of his family’s situation. With both of his parents so ill, he is facing the unimaginable. Trying to be there for his mother in her final days while also preparing for funeral expenses, all on his own. The financial and emotional burden is more than anyone should ever have to face alone.

We are asking for any support you can give, big or small, to help Jason during this incredibly painful time. Your generosity will go directly toward easing the financial stress of funeral costs and allowing Jason to focus on spending every moment he can with his mom and supporting his father.
