My name is Ryan Essl. I am a veteran fifth grade teacher in Waxahachie, TX. Mayra Gonzalez, my past team teacher and best friend for almost a decade is struggling, both emotionally and financially, after recent devastating news. Unfortunately, she  found out that she has Ovarian Cancer Grade 2. The tumor leaked cancerous fluid/cells into her body cavity that caused her to be in tremendous pain. She was emitted to the hospital on April 13th that resulted in a major surgery and ultimately the confirmation of her condition. She has not been able to return to work to complete the school year and her Disability payments have not been sent as of today. She is concerned with paying her bills first which are many at this point, but that leaves her little for necessities such as gas and groceries during this difficult time period before the Disability payments begin. 

Mayra is known to be one of the most generous people around. She has a huge heart and always goes out of her way to help everyone in need. She is also a very private person and has struggled with sharing the news so publicly. She just needs a little extra support during this transition period, and I can think on no one more deserving of it. We would be very grateful for any assistance that can be provided through this site.
