Mayo Clinic treatment for Savannah
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Savannah and I am 16 years old.
Two years ago, I was diagnosed with a chronic illness called Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). I suffer from fainting, seizures, extreme fatigue, brain fog and more.

Before my illness I was an honor roll student, played multiple sports, was on the student council and very active in my community. After seeing specialists after specialists near and far for the past couple of years, and no helpful solutions, I am unable to attend school and have a hard time completing everyday activities.
A difficult aspect of POTS is the fact that it’s an invisible illness. That means from the outside I look like a typical teenager but on the inside my body’s going crazy. There is a really good story that tries to explain invisible illnesses called “The Spoon Theory” https://butyoudontlooksick.com/articles/written-by-christine/the-spoon-theory/
Mayo Clinic in Minnesota has a three-week rehabilitation program and 6 months physical therapy that fits my needs to a tee. I have an appointment for February 13th and have already rescheduled 3 times because of insurance. Now that they have determined they will not cover the cost we are moving on to plan B. The treatment is very expensive but has amazing results.
This should allow me to go back to school and even attend school full time! I’m a people person and want to be in school with my peers more than anything right now. My illness has been very hard on my whole family and I want to get better for them just as much for myself.
The program is very hard and will not be easy, but I’m committed and determined to give 110% and use this opportunity to its fullest. My family I need to help to cover the treatment and any amount big or small will make a huge difference for us. The amount I have requested will cover the Mayo Clinic ($52,000), two follow up appoinments at Mayo and 6 months of Physical Therapy (5 days a week). The 6 months of physical therapy is very important to maintain and gain more physical strength after going thru Mayo.
Please keep me in your prayers as I travel on this journey.

Gofundme wanted me to add this disclaimer that Gregory "Shawn" Petree (my father) would be receiving the funds and we would be using the funds to pay for the Mayo clinic and we are from Chattanooga, TN.
