Mayo Clinic Medical Cost for Kimberley Atkins

Hello, My name is Kimberley Atkins and I am fundraising for the expensive costs that my insurance is refusing to pay for me to attend Mayo clinic. As most of you know on May 8th I presented with the worst heartburn and pain in my left arm and jaw that I ignored for a day. I got up the next day went to the gym and the burning in my chest got worse and the pain in my arm and my jaw intensifed. Long story short I went to the Emergency room where I was admitted due to elevated cardiac enzymes. A cardiac catheterization was performed where I was found to have two spontaneous coronary artery dissections which is called SCAD. The cardiologist was stunned because it is a very rare condition and they have openly admitted they do not know how to properly treat me. I also have Fibromuscular dysplasia which is called FMD that precedes SCAD and both are very dangerous. I have been hospitalized 3 times in the past 45 days due to pain that the cardiologists don't know how to treat. I now have chronic angina and I am on a ton of blood pressure medications and blood thinners. Finally, my internal medicine doctor suggested that I attend the Mayo clinic to get the proper treatment. The Mayo clinic has accepted me as a patient and they are excited to treat me since they specialize in SCAD and FMD. They actually have clinics and the doctor I will be seeing has written several published articles on SCAD. I am scheduled to leave on 08/26/2023 and return on 09/01/2023 with a whirlwind of tests and clinics already scheduled. Unfortunately my insurance continues to refuse to pay with several appeals. I just got the estimated costs from Mayo clinic of 15,000 to 18,000 dollars not including flights and hotels. We are doing are best to cover the cost, but I am currently not working and receiving short term disability and Robert is working all the overtime he can. I really feel this trip to Mayo clinic will answer several questions and give me a better chance at a better quality of life. I hate to ask for help, but a lot of you have asked me how can you help in my recovery and this would be helpful if I can make this trip to Mayo clinic and get proper care for this rare condition.
