Hi, my name is Maynard Wall. About 5 years ago I suffered a bad fall while hiking. It resulted in two broken bones in my hand, extensive bruising, a concussion and most notably a broken ankle.
It seems strange I know but because of already existing arthritis in the ankle and the fact I could still walk, albeit it in great pain, combined with the concussion I did not seek further medical attention for the ankle. At this point I had already had mounting medical bills.
When COVID hit I began working 10-14 hours a day. I work at a grocery store. During this time I tore several ligaments and tendons finally resulting in surgery. While repairing the ligaments, the surgery failed to fix the break itself. An open wound resulted, requiring 10 months of wound care visits.
This June I was presented with the option of several surgeries or losing the leg. I was forced to leave work for 6 to 8 months. Following the next surgery, infection set in and I was admitted to the hospital and am currently in a nursing facility while healing for the next surgery.
I am lucky to have some health insurance through work, but as you can imagine my medical bills have become extensive and are still growing with another pending surgery and rehab to go.
Arizona does not offer temporary disability and work provides only $150/ week. I have applied for rental assistance but so far I'm still waiting with crossed fingers. So while that amount is large, you can imagine the bills for me and my two dogs. They may not be trained therapy hounds, but their love is helping me through this.
I really have no immediate family to help and my friends, while helping in other ways are not in a position to assist with this kind of financial burden.
Anything that you can find it in your hearts to help me with will be appreciated more than you can know. I will use the money to survive and pay medical bills, which themselves will total over the target amount. But it will get me through the next 6 months or so.
I appreciate all of you for positive thoughts and well wishes as well as any financial assistance you may contribute.
