Help us bring my dad home

Donation protected
As most of you know by now, two years ago, life changed in a way none of us could have prepared for. My dad went into the hospital for what we thought would be a routine knee replacement. He was still driving, working, laughing, and living life fully. But when he woke up from surgery, everything was different.

Instead of coming home to rest and recover, he came home with sudden and severe cognitive changes. He was confused, experiencing hallucinations, and unable to care for himself. What should have been a few weeks of healing became a new journey with the diagnosis of Lewy body Dementia, one that has turned all of our lives upside down.

Since that day, nothing has been the same. His loving partner has become his full-time caregiver, showing up every single day with strength, patience, and love. We’ve come together to do everything we can to support him and make sure he is cared for, safe, and never alone.
I’ve tried my best to create moments that remind him of how deeply he is loved. At my gym, I’ve hosted events in his honor, asked my students to thank him for the space they train in, and organized times for everyone to cheer for him. In those moments, I see flashes of the man I grew up admiring. The pride in his eyes, the small smile that appears when people celebrate him, the spark of joy that reminds us he’s still here with us.
My dad has always been someone people could count on. He has shown up for friends, family, and community without hesitation, and he has spent his life giving without ever expecting anything in return. Now, for the first time, he’s the one who needs help.
Our dream is to bring him home. We want him to be surrounded by love, familiar faces, and the comfort of a place that makes him feel safe. But the cost of in-home care is overwhelming. Even a few hours a day of professional help quickly adds up to thousands of dollars a month, and full-time care can exceed one hundred thousand dollars a year. Most insurance plans do not cover this kind of long-term support, and while we’ve done everything we can on our own, the reality is that we need help to make this possible.
Bringing him home would mean so much more than meeting his medical needs. It would mean dignity, peace, and quality of life. It would mean waking up to familiar surroundings that calm his confusion and being close to the people who love him most. It would mean honoring the life of a man who has given everything of himself to everyone around him.
Every single donation makes a difference. Your support will help us relieve the weight on his partner, who gives her heart and soul to his care. It will help us create a safe, stable environment where he can live with comfort and dignity. Most importantly, it will help us bring him home.
If you’re unable to contribute financially, sharing this campaign with others is another powerful way to help. Every share, every conversation, and every act of support brings us closer to giving my dad the care and love he deserves.
Thank you for reading his story, for caring about a man who has always cared for others, and for helping us give him the life he deserves in the place he loves most: home.
