Hey guys! My name is Maya and it has been my goal to go to Western University for as long as I can remember. My passion for science ignited when I was just six years old, when my mom and I would conduct experiments in our kitchen. We’d even record our observations and results, turning our playful curiosity into a hands-on learning experience!
Throughout high school, I have taken a keen interest in medical sciences. This is because I’ve become increasingly fascinated by how the human body works and how scientific advancements can improve health and well-being. Additionally, studying in this field will offer a deeper understanding of the molecular and cellular foundations of health and disease. The complexity and potential of medical sciences to address critical health challenges have driven my desire to delve deeper into this field. While I know that the field of science is much more complex than what my 6 year old self would think, my fascination for it has only deepened. Each new area of medical science continues to captivate and inspire me, reinforcing my commitment to pursuing this path at Western University.
Living expenses are constantly on the rise, and as a student with one year left of high school, there is only so much I can do to save for my tuition and residency. Grade 12 is the most important year in terms of grades and university applications, yet I am working 3 jobs and volunteering for 2 different organizations, a hospital and a longterm care home, in order to save for my future education and build my resume.
Your contribution, no matter how big or small, will provide me with the stability and resources needed to fully engage in my academic pursuits and achieve my goals. Your support is not just an investment in my education but also in the future advancements I hope to contribute to within the field.
