Hi everyone, It's Maya :) ♥️. Without the existence of a robust universal healthcare system, we are unfortunately expected to front most of the costs for medical bills. It's kind of a drag.

At the end of February, i'm lucky enough to be concluding a multi-year endeavor to get gender affirming surgery. I've spent my life wholly repulsed and uncomfortable with the reproductive system I was born with. Finding out why six years ago, and subsequently discovering there was a way to remedy it gave me something to work towards to feel more comfortable in my body.

Being trans is beautiful, and sometimes in order to make our bodies a home to live in, medical intervention is necessary.

Since there are no trustworthy, closer options for me for this surgery, I will be traveling to Maryland. This means my insurance deductible is much higher, and I am expected to front more of the cost.

I am very fortunate to have a kind surgeon, who i met last year in person for my consult; and a wonderful community that will help me recover for the first week there, and the following five weeks back at home.

I know it's not the easiest time of year to contribute with the holidays. Every little bit helps though, and I am getting cute stickers made of Loki (my partner Brighid's corgi) on a bike that I will mail to each person who donates along with a note (just send me your address!)
