This past March, Maya's life was turned upside down when she found a mass in her left breast and was diagnosed with stage II breast cancer.
Maya is a healthy 28-year-old with no family history, no genetic mutations, no symptoms and is up to date with all my physicals. Needless to say, this was completely out of the blue and came as quite a shock.
Maya would like her story to serve as a reminder and encouragement for everyone (not just women) to go to the doctor and be an advocate for your own health. She was lucky to have caught it as early as she did and is working towards giving herself the best rate of survival.
As many of you are aware- cancer is a huge expense that insurance only partly covers. Maya will undergo 2+ year journey to recovery. She is currently receiving treatment at Texas Oncology Center in Dallas, TX. I will manage the site and ensure any donation will go directly towards Maya’s medical expenses relating to this diagnosis such as chemotherapy, multiple surgeries, radiation treatment, travel to and from the hospital, etc.

Thank you for being a part of her journey.
