Maya's Road to NYU Tisch

My name is Maya Scriven, and I am a junior at Ithaca College, after my first year, with a 3.7 GPA. As of today, I have been accepted to Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. Three years studying at NYU would cost $240,000. I don't qualify for institutional financial aid as a transfer student.
Since I wrote my first script turned to play in the fourth grade, I have been chasing the dream of a career in Film and Television. Developing who I am as an artist, in past summers, I attended SCAD Rising Star and NYU High School Screenwriters Workshop receiving A's in all classes. I am currently taking an NYU Film Essentials class funded by friends and family through Go-Fund-Me.
Taking my classes remotely from New York City, I have realized that I am not ready to leave the city, my home of eighteen years, where I have developed my craft since I first became interested in film, photography, and visual arts. I now see this dirty and flashing city through a new lens. I now perceive these countless historical sites, even in my neighborhood, as a filmmaker's necessary muse. In particular, I want to document the pieces of history--communities and institutions--that are currently being threatened. I want to document them while they are still a part of the culture, institutions such as the Apollo and the National Black Theater. They have been important sources of inspiration for me, and I want to create something that memorializes them.
I understand this is a lot to ask, but I couldn't forgive myself if I didn't try to make this dream become a reality. I am a hard worker, which is evident through my art and earning a substantial amount of credits to qualify as a junior in my first year of college. Please share with friends and family.
