UPDATE on Maya MAY 23, 2023:
***So to give you all an update on Maya, Friday we took Maya to the emergency room at Stanford and after three Neurologists read Maya’s records and examined her, they all agreed that it would be best for Maya to be admitted to allow them to evaluate her since they were not in agreement with the treatment that the Fresno Neurologist wanted to administer. Not that they thought it was wrong, just that in looking at the brain MRI that was done, there was something that lead them to think that Maya’s condition may not be CIDP which is what the Fresno Neurologist was ready to treat. So they want to perform two tests to confirm whether or not it’s CIDP that he is going to treat with an IVIg regimen. Having said this. I just want to say thank you to all that have decided to donate to this gofundme. May God Bless you real good !! ***
My name is Candice, I am the Operations Director at Innovative Medical Center (IMC) in Fresno, Ca. The Doctors and staff at IMC need your help! We have a patient named, Maya Bunch. She was a very healthy, active athletic 18-year-old, “straight A” senior at Bullard High School. Last year, she was involved in an accident that left her with a broken foot.
After being in a cast for several months her foot eventually healed. However, over a few months, the injury caused the muscles in her leg to stop functioning. She was on crutches for almost a year and is now unable to walk and now requires a wheelchair to get around.
In December of 2022, she was admitted into Valley Children’s Hospital where doctors ran multiple tests to try and determine the diagnosis. Unfortunately, they were unsuccessful at providing Maya and her family with any answers. She was left with a bill of $30,000.00.
Maya did other treatments totaling $17,000. Yet still no definitive diagnosis, proposed successful treatment plan, or just ANSWERS in general for Maya and her family. The next step will be a referral to Stanford Medical which is currently being processed by CHCC. The cost for further treatment at Stanford Medical is yet to be determined but will more than likely be upwards of another $50,000 out of pocket.
IMC is reaching out to our IMC family and local community to ask for your help. The Bunch family is suffering great financial hardship with the accumulation of the ever-increasing medical bills to figure out what is causing Maya such grief. Maya and her family are near and dear to our hearts here at IMC so we want to provide support in any way we can to help her.
With her condition diminishing, Maya is unable to attend and enjoy her senior year at Bullard High School. Too weak to walk and somedays even sit up, Maya is unable to get from class to class. She is now confined to a wheelchair forced to homeschool. This means missing out on Senior year memories with friends and classmates, taking part in Senior end-of-year activities, Grad Night, etc. Most of all, Maya wants to be able to celebrate her educational accomplishments and just simply WALK ACROSS THE STAGE with her friends at her High School Graduation!
Dr. Roulund and the entire team at Innovative Medical Center are requesting donations/help of any kind to assist in helping Maya and her family offset some of her growing medical expenses in any way you can.
Anything you can donate will truly help.
Maya is imagining a day when:
She will be able to not only walk again with her friends but also participate in everyday activities as she did before her injury.
Donate today and let’s make Maya’s dream a reality!
The team at IMC along with the Bunch family thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
