Throughout May, teams from RMCH Paediatric Emergency Department and MRI Emergency Department — alongside our fantastic colleagues in the Urgent Treatment Centre and Clinical Decisions Unit — are taking part in our annual MAY MILES challenge.

For one month, we engage in a little friendly(ish) competition as we run, walk, swim, cycle, row and ski as many miles as we can. More than 200 staff members have split into 8 teams, all battling it out for ultimate May Miles glory.

This year, we are also raising money for two important causes:

Every mile logged represents staff making time for movement, connection and wellbeing outside of demanding frontline roles — and every donation helps support both our NHS teams and an incredible local charity supporting women and children across Manchester with money being split equally between both.
