Save Maxwell Park Community Centre - Urgent Roof Needed

Maxwell Park Community Centre (Formerly known as ‘The Lynx’) was built for the people of Borehamwood back in 1963 and many to this day still use the Centre. It has provided a safe and welcoming space for local people of all ages.

Run by a dedicated committee of volunteers and supported by a small team of staff, the Centre operates as a not-for-profit organisation. Every penny goes straight back into maintaining and improving this vital community space.

Today more than 35 groups use the Centre regularly. From children's activities and community groups to adult classes, clubs, parties and local business training events, Maxwell Park is a hub for connection, learning and friendship.

The Problem

Our lounge roof has been patched up over the years, but after six decades it is now beyond repair and urgently needs replacing. This room is in continual use by both children and adults, and it is crucial that we renew the roof as soon as possible for our groups to continue.

What We Need

The estimated cost of replacing the roof is approximately £40,000. This may increase depending on the condition of the sub-roof once works begins.

Health & Safety measures will be implemented to ensure the safety of our community users. The old roof will be safely removed, any necessary remedial works completed, and a new roof installed to ensure the building remains safe for our community.

Looking To The Future

If we are fortunate enough to raise sufficient funds, we would also explore installing solar panels. This would reduce our running costs, make the Centre more environmentally sustainable, and help secure its future for generations to come.
