Update:
2/3 areas of the brain are healed from the TBIs and skull fracture. The brain is now aligned properly and all the blood is reabsorbed. No surgery is needed for the scar tissue, most of it is from the drain that was in his head.
The frontal lobe area will remain as is but he will continue to gain more functionality as time goes on and nerves heal but to what extent is still to be determined. He is working really hard with PT and just started using the cane. He has the walker for long distances.
Max is no longer seeing double and they were able to remove the prism from his glasses. He still has blurry vision but the glasses are helping while everything is still healing.
We saw the audiologist/ENT. No surgery will be needed on his ear. The scan of the ear looked good. He had no hearing in the left ear at the first appointment but showed improvement on the audiology exam and has gained back a small amount of hearing in his left ear. The ENT will recheck in six months to determine if a hearing aid will be necessary.
Max Doloff was in an ATV accident on Easter Sunday, 4/20/2025, while out for an afternoon ride with his brother and was fortunately wearing a helmet. He was in ICU/Partial ICU for 31 days and on the Neuro floor for an additional 10. He then spent two weeks in John Heinz rehabilitation. He has a subdural hematoma, a subarachnoid hemorrhage (two brain bleeds), and a fractured skull. Along with having a broken eye socket, 4 broken ribs, 2 fractures of the transverse lumbar vertebrae, traumatic hematomas, lacerations, and severe road rash. This was followed by respiratory failure and a difficult battle with pneumonia.
Max is a driver for Manasek Auto and is currently unable to return to work and has no income. His insurance has a $10,000 deductible and has a cap on therapy visits, which will then be his responsibility. He will need care through 2026 when his deductible will reset. He is also facing denied claims and services not covered, along with living expenses. Please consider donating or sharing. Every amount helps!
Thank you for all your love and support for our Max!
