Who Was Max?

We get asked all the time: "Who is Max?" It's time we told you.

Max was a German Shepherd who came to us after a rough start in life. At around six years old, he was up for adoption, seeking a second chance.

One night, Lee (Bev's husband) returned home from a late shift. Bev was asleep, but Max began barking incessantly. No matter how much Bev called for him to quiet down, he wouldn't stop.

Concerned, Bev got up to find Max lying beside Lee, who was having a stroke.

Max's unwavering alertness saved Lee's life that night—and in doing so, he found his forever home.

Max stayed with Bev and Lee at the rescue for the rest of his life, until he passed over the rainbow bridge a few years ago.

He was a true hero, and every animal that you help us save is in his memory
