Max's fight to recovery

Donation protected
What started as any other Monday (2/14) turned into any mother's nightmare around 3:30pm CST. Beth, Max's mom, received a phone call from Jody, COO of the resort in Breckenridge, who shared some devastating news. Max had gotten into a snowboarding accident and was being airlifted to one of the closest major hospitals in the Denver area. Though at first when the ski patrol assessed Max on the mountain, he did not have the ability to move any of his limbs. By the time Max reached the St. Anthony's in west Denver, he had slight ability to move his fingers and toes. Max had suffered a spinal cord injury. After some time, it was determined that he needed emergent surgery to reduce the compression on his spinal cord and prevent any further damage.

Max got out of surgery around 3:00 am on February 15th. Beth was able to see him for the first time around 4:00am. His spirits were good and overall remain positive. He is a fighter and is determined to work his hardest to achieve full recovery.

Thus far, there is so much unknown about his timeline to recovery. We do know that Max will have to stay in the Denver area for quite some time at a specialized spinal cord injury Rehab facility. Max has a long road ahead.

Many people are asking if they can do anything for Max and his family. First and foremost, prayers are always welcome. One challenge the family is already facing is the logistics of being here with him. We don't know how long he will be here but we definitely want a family member to be with him for the first several weeks. The family is planning to take turns flying out here to be with Max every step of the way.

Anyone who knows Beth knows that she will do absolutely anything for her children. Anyone who knows Max knows he is so confident in his faith and love for God. He is so kind, genuine, and the hardest worker you will ever meet. He is only 21 years old and has a mighty recovery ahead that can last years. There is still so much unknown with his condition, but Max knows he can overcome anything with the Lord by his side.

Any donation to help Max and his family is appreciated. From being airlifted off the mountain, emergent surgery, hospital stays, family travel, and future therapy appointments, the expenses are unimaginable. Thank you so much in advance for your prayers, shares, and generous donations. We know this recovery will take a village and we're so grateful for any help.
