As many of you know, I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia on May 16th, 2016 and it's been an uphill battle since the very start, but I have had the wonderful support of my friends and loved ones to help me get through it. Unfortunately, the cancerous cells, or blasts, have been developing in the bone marrow in my spine. Unlike a lot of other types of cancer, I don't have a tumor that can just be removed and my life can proceed as usual. I have to undergo a bone marrow transplant, and they aren't performed in the state of Nevada. My oncologist has requested that I go to the University of Southern Californa, because he is aware of the success rate of that facility. The reason I'm asking for donations is, they may need to keep me in California anywhere from three to six months, while monitoring my health and progress to see if my body accepts or rejects the transplant. The funds will be used for lodging, food, and transportation to appointments for the duration of my time out there. We're estimated to leave on March 20th, but all funds acquired will go towards the duration of my stay in a different state. Thank you all for your love and support, because I wouldn't be here without it. I love you guys.
Sincerely,
Maxwell Rivas
