Maximus The Gladiator VS Cancer

Donation protected
I'd like to introduce our Maximus Decimus Meridus! Yes, his Daddy loves The Gladiator movie. He's 5 yrs old and he LOVES life. Some of his favorite things to do are: hanging out with his human friends, lounging in the pool, and fetching his ball. His favorite human is his Daddy!!
Max was recently diagnosed with stage V B-cell lymphoma and it has settled in his eyes. His vision is impaired in his left eye and 100% impaired in his right eye. He has a great veterinarian, Dr. Porter, who referred him to K-State Oncology department. We met with his oncologist, Dr. Mary Lynn Higginbotham. I was leery of chemotherapy for obvious reasons, but in dogs, the focus is on quality of life! The oncologist said there is a chance that he will regain his vision. They've had other patients that the cancer settled in their eyes that have regained vision.
Catching and retrieving his ball is how he prefers to spend his time. His Daddy and I desperately did not want to say goodbye to our baby in the next 1-2 months, but we thought of him and what was best for him. We chose life and chemotherapy! Lymphoma is often very responsive to treatment. He had his first treatment this week. He is doing well and catching the ball better than he has this past month! He will have three 4-week rounds. The entirety of this process will cost approximately $5000-$7000. In our eyes, Max is totally worth it, no question on that! Our reserved funds are diminishing. That's why we are reaching out for help. The funds raised will not go towards anything but Max's care and treatment! Truth be told, I was hesitant to ask, but when it comes to Max, I am going to try whatever means I need to in order to fund this for him. We are doing our part too working extra hours and short-term rental in our basement! I have asked several friends their thoughts on setting up this GoFundMe, and all positive. Everyone who has met Max LOVES him! Please help if you can!
UPDATE 5/14/2025:Max has had 3 chemo treatments and 13 left to go in the next 16 weeks. For the most part it has not slowed him down one bit! He still looks forward to his Daddy coming home from work each day & throwing the ball for him. He did lose some weight this last week so his mean Mommy has limited the time he plays ball each day, just for now, and he's on a special diet made for pups on chemotherapy - high in calories & it must be very tasty, he eats it right up! I will add a recent photo in the comments & you'll see he is loving life! I'm so happy we chose this path. We also want to THANK EVERYONE who has included Max in their prayers, sent well wishes, and/or donated to his GoFundMe, sent cash, or Venmo. We are humbled and forever grateful!!!
