Maximus Anderson Vocational Ballet Training at ENBS

Max is studying a three year course at English National Ballet School in England. He is almost done with his first year, and is working hard and loving his training and life at ENBS! He was appeared in the London Times recently with two other students from English National Ballet School in a gorgeous photo taken at the Wallace Collection by a famous ballet photographer.

Here is a short recap of his journey.

Maximus took his first ballet class at 9 years old at Splitz Dance Academy in Novato, CA with Stefanie Bauer. On the way back to the car, Max told me, "Mom, this is what I want to do for the rest of my life!" His training continued for 4 years, and he has trained with great teachers and schools so far.

The Covid-19 lockdown ushered in a new era of training for all dancers, and Max was no exception. We transformed our front room into a studio for him with a couple of mirrors, a large TV with an iPhone direct connect, a big roll of Harlequin Marley, and a ballet barre I procured for him from my gym before they shut down.

Max trained virtually with Ballet Academy East in NYC, and he studied with Mr. Sander Blommaert, former first artist at the Royal Ballet and owner of Blommaert Ballet School, for over a year through Zoom.

In the summer of 2021, I took Max to England to study with Mr. Blommaert, and after three weeks of daily private lessons, he participated in the Elmhurst Ballet School Senior Summer Intensive.

Max was offered and accepted a full-time place at Elmhurst Ballet School in Birmingham, England where he trained for 2 years. Maximus spent those two years training in and out of the classroom intensively- while not practicing ballet, he is weight training, biking, and taking private lessons with Sander.

All of his hard work and dedication paid off - he received five offers for full-time training for upper school: Rambert, Elmhurst, BTUK, Tring Park, & English National Ballet School.

He accepted ENBS, and has been training there since September 2023.

We could not be more proud of him for all his hard work, dedication, commitment, humility, strength, and belief in himself. He has sacrificed, worked, and done all of it with the best attitude, graciousness, and above all, joy, love of the work itself, and dedication to his craft. We are so grateful to all his teachers, this amazing opportunity for our son to pursue excellence.

We have come to a point where it is almost impossible to come up with the tuition for the rest of this year, and the next two years as we are an average family with three children living at home and the yearly tuition is approximately 1/3 of my income.
